Looking Back at the Children's Art

There's just nothing better than children's art!  What a wonderful job I have - one that offers me the privilege of watching children create their art as well as listening to them tell me all about it!

Here are a few of my favorites from the 2010-2011 school year...

The Tree of Life

After discussing Gustav Klimt's Tree of Life painting, students used oil pastels on black construction paper to create their own tree of life.  I wish I could frame each and every one of them and place them in a museum!

Johnny Appleseed

After listening to a story about Johnny Appleseed, students illustrated the story using oil pastels.

Creative Castles

Fourth graders learned about architecture and how to make castles look 3-D by using curved lines.

Thanks to Deep Space Sparkle for the castle idea!

Snow!

Around Christmas time, students made people of out snow - both 2-D and 3-D!

Mexican Marketplace

During my blog travels, I was inspired by the idea of a Mexican Marketplace at Painted Paper.  So we made Mexican marigolds, mirrors, molas and even clothes out of paper!

Yertle the Turtle

After listening to Yertle the Turtle by Dr. Seuss, students created turtles out of airdry clay, painted them with tempera, and added a coat of mod podge to finish them off.

Learning Under the Sea at TCE

Looking back, this blog wouldn't be complete without the yellow submarine sporting the portholes that students made for "Learning Under the Sea at TCE."
